Call for workshops / tutorials PDF Print

It is an AMCIS tradition to host tutorials and workshops to facilitate the dissemination of up-to-date knowledge in teaching and research and to encourage close interactions among conference participants. We try to strike a balance between teaching and research interests, mainstream and leading-edge (basic and advanced) topics, as well as technological and managerial issues. We are open to any innovative ideas and formats. Proposals that are consistent to the conference themes are particularly welcome. Proposals by academia from Latin America colleagues are encouraged.

The differences between tutorial and workshop can be fuzzy and the following is a general guideline that you can use to determine whether your proposal should be classified as a tutorial or workshop:

    1. Tutorial is one-to-many (one-way communication). A tutorial leader gives a lecture and/or a demo on a specific topic. Workshop is many-to-many (two-way communication). Workshop facilitator(s) should encourage interactions and discussions among participants.
    2. Tutorial tends to cover basic topics while workshop is designed for more advanced topics.
    3. Tutorial tends to be more teaching oriented while workshop tends to be more research oriented.
    4. Workshops usually involved some hand-on exercises with or without computers.
    5. Some workshops may have more than one facilitator.
