Welcome to the Decade of Smart For the first time in history, almost anything can become digitally aware and interconnected. This means the systems and processes that enable physical goods to be developed, manufactured, bought and sold; services delivered; everything from people and money to oil, water and electrons to move; and billions of people to work, govern themselves and live. Smart airports, smart banks, smart roadways, smart cities – with so much technology available at low cost, the list of possibilities is endless. Increasingly, emerging market enterprises are adopting new business models and solutions to become smarter. Examples range from smarter oil and gas imaging to microfinance to patient care, mobile phone promotions and more. Bruno Di Leo, General Manager, IBM Growth Markets, will explore the benefits companies stand to gain providing they are bold enough to lead in the "Decade of Smart." |
